As we know I’m a completist. So this recap is a bit frustrating for me. Last Tuesday was Election Day and I wasn’t able to attend those sessions. Please share which to check out before the viewing window closes.
Fortunately, what I did view was inspiring.
We Know We Need a DAM But We Don t Know Why!
Jonathan Wear and conference chair David Lipsey discussed initial justifications for DAM and how to set benchmarks for measuring success. Great to hear a fellow digital asset management pro who has worked across industries where the names change but the need for DAM remains the same.
What Makes a Digital Asset Truly Valuable?
In this session, Nick Caw and Simon Mallindine talked adding value - from standard methods like tagging and enhancing metadata, to thinking more broadly about how to define a digital asset and its audience.
No DAM is an Island
Might need to cross-stitch this quote:
Creative operations is an inherently collaborative function within and across organizations.
Rich Cassone and Dan Pugliese shared a framework for assessing how and when to integrate a DAM with other important enterprise applications, and I needed to hear the reminder to avoid scope creep!
Is Your Brand DAM Ready - Your DAM Journey Considerations
A fun panel discussion with John Horodyski, Haley Patrone, Ellie Robertshaw and Jacqueline Yu on keeping your DAM relevant and how to evolve as your needs grow and change. Particularly happy to see the poll question on drivers to consider for our DAM journey reflected my experience (“All of this and more” - of course - but also “User adoption” and “Workflow” as runners up) and the creative advice on training and involving users.
The Future of Brand Experience The Role Played by DAM and PIM
First Barbara Jenny Wilson explained the symbiotic relationship between DAM and PIM for better brand experience and handling the “content explosion” we are all dealing with now. When it came to Q&A with David Lipsey, I learned about PXM (product experience management) and why to have separate PIMs and DAMs, and how that might be changing as new platforms are created.
To end the festival, David wrapped up with a “Dear Asset Manager” love note from A-Z. See you all in LA!
